DCI celebrates golden jubilee, Angamuthu predicts a bright future

Visakhapatnam: Visakhapatnam-head quaretered Dredging Corporation of India Limited, popular as DCI in the corporate world, which celebrated its 50th formation day on Sunday has a bright future ahead, Visakhapatnam Port Authority Chairman Dr M Angamuthu, said.

Dr Angamuthu said India will be a maritime super power as per Amrit Kaal 2047 unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said their focus is on strengthening the ecosystems with the support of promoter ports and Government of India to enable DCI as the top 10 dredging companies. Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Minister of State Santanu Thakur, Ministry Secretary Vijay Kumar and others addressed virtually and congratulated DCI employees on the 50th formation day of the company.

Taking part at the golden jubilee celebrations here, Dr Angamuthu, who is als the Chairman of DCI and Mumbai Port Authority, described as a milestone the successful journey of the organisationserving the nation since its inception in 1976 when Government of India felt to set up a specialised organisation to meet the dredging requirement of the port sector.

Established on March 29, 1976, as a Central Public Sector Enterprise, DCI has played a pivotal role in supporting the nation’s port infrastructure and maritime development. The golden jubilee celebrations brought together employees, former employees, government representatives, stakeholders, and customers.

Though a series of initiatives after a Reflecting on DCIL’s journey, Capt S Divakar, MD and CEO of DCI described the remarkable evolution of the company over the past five decades and spelt out big plans ahead to explore various opportunities both in India and in the overseas market.
